The history of Hannett Realtors dates back to the 60's when John Hannett was a teacher and basketball coach for Detroit Country Day School in Birmingham, MI.  To supplement his income, John procured his real estate license and began to sell 'on the side' to supplement his teaching income.  Initially, it was only efficient to sell high end real estate, and soon John found real estate to be more lucrative than teaching and quit his teaching job.

John's vision for a successful company was in forming a knowledgeable, dedicated set of professionals.  He wanted to join a group of respected real estate professionals, and together they would start his firm, Hannett Inc., Realtors, more than 30 years ago.  Together, they established a reputation for excellence surpassing even their own high personal standards.

In the 1990 John Hannett, along with his wife Gayle, a very respected businesswoman, teamed with Kathy Wilson  and Doug Whitehouse.  Kathy brought nearly three decades of outstanding experience in the real estate industry, and Doug Whitehouse, a successful businessman with two decades of mortgage industry and real estate experience were just the partners John envisioned to further grow his company.  Together with their dedicated team of agents and staff, they represent many decades of experience in real estate and related fields.

Gerry Burke joined Hannett, Wilson & Whitehouse Realtors as managing partner in 2007.  Gerry got his start at Chamberlain Realtors and brings over 20 years of experience with him. He helped that company grow from 4 offices to 14 offices.  In the year 2000, Gerry joined Weir Manuel Realtors as manager of the Birmingham office.  Among Gerry's accreditations are CRS, GRI, ABRM, Brokers and Builders Licensure.
